Coosa Steel Corporation is a full-line steel service center located in Rome, Georgia providing hot rolled and cold finished steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, and alloys. To meet growing demand, Coosa Steel needed more storage space and housing for a new plasma table. This was a two-phase construction that would add an additional 40,000 square feet to their operation.
This design/build project held a primary consideration for environmental impact and optimization. Beginning with the concrete slab foundation, we utilized laser screeding to ensure the three foot thick concrete tolerance was within millimeters to meet the load and engineering needs of the crane system and steel storage. Two new PEMBs (pre-engineered metal buildings) were constructed, one in 2019 and the other 2021.
The need for dedicated office space and industrial machinery with storage expansion called for unique designs with each building’s specific purpose in mind. Executing the expansion builds to the timelines planned ensured Coosa Steel Corporation could meet their demand and deliver their products to their growing customer base.
